Importing LSF Compute AMI

Adding the LSF Compute AMI to Exostellar’s Image Library

The AMI for compute nodes created or identified earlier will be added to the EMS’s Image Library. Ideally, this AMI is capable of booting quickly.

Requirements:

  1. The AMI-ID should be based on an LSF compute node from your cluster, capable of running your workloads.

  2. The AMI should be created by this account.

  3. The AMI should not have product codes.

  4. The Image Name will be specified in the Application Environment steps later.

Overview of Steps in this Import Process:

  1. Cataloging important information from the AMI

  2. Booting an instance from the AMI

    1. Grabbing /proc/cmdline contents

    2. Copying the initramfs image

    3. Relocating these assets on the EMS (Exostellar Management Server)

  3. Creating json assets to describe these details on the EMS, essentially completing the process
